Glenn Heights Apartment Locator: New Subdivision Houses on the County Line

Free help from your Glenn Heights apartment locator: we checked 4 places this week, from $1,219 a month after free rent. Glenn Heights sits on the Dallas and Ellis county line along I-35E. Most of what rents here is newer houses, many in rental home communities, rather than apartment complexes. New subdivision phases keep opening, so the supply shifts month to month. Unlike its neighbors this far south, it's a DART member city. Service is GoLink, a ride you book inside a set zone, not a train or regular bus line.

Glenn Heights Apartment Locator Work Mostly Means Finding Houses

  • How DART's GoLink zone reaches an address, since membership doesn't mean a bus on every street
  • Dallas or Ellis County, and DeSoto or Red Oak ISD, to check for each house
  • HOA rules on parking, pets and lawns, to read before you commit to a subdivision home
  • Rental home companies with written rules for approval with conditions, for a credit or history problem

DART GoLink and the Drive North

DART membership sets Glenn Heights apart from most southern suburbs, but riders get GoLink, a van you book for rides within a set zone, not a rail stop. Check how it serves the address before you count on it.

I-35E is the road north. Downtown Dallas is about 27 minutes away with no traffic by our drive times, and about 31 at 8am. Bear Creek Road meets the interstate at the city's edge and Ovilla Road reaches it near Red Oak. Northbound I-35E slows at rush hour, and Hampton Road is the slower but steadier back way toward DeSoto and Lancaster.

The county line runs through town, so check which county a house is in. It changes the tax rate the owner pays, and that can show up in the rent.

Mostly Houses in Glenn Heights, With HOA Rules

Apartment complexes are few. The city's growth is mostly newer houses and rental home communities in fresh subdivisions. Found nothing this month? Look again next month, since new phases keep opening.

In those subdivisions the HOA writes its own rules on parking, pets and lawn care, and renters have to follow them just like owners, whatever the lease says. Before you say yes to a house, get a copy of those HOA papers.

Rental home companies screen by written rules, and many will approve with conditions. That often makes them easier to qualify with than an owner who has no set process. Some newer streets toward Red Oak Creek back up to its floodplain, so check the flood map for those lots.
