Pleasant Grove Apartments and Houses With More Bedrooms

  • Three and four bedroom units on Buckner and Lake June, with your paperwork ready for when one opens
  • Shared meters and flat utility charges compared against buildings that meter each unit
  • Complexes that have answered a credit problem with a larger deposit, picked with your file in mind
  • Homes within walking distance of Lake June or Buckner station when you'd rather ride than drive US-175

Getting Around: DART Green Line and US-175

US-175, the C.F. Hawn Freeway, is the quick way Downtown, and rush hour slows it hard. Buckner Boulevard (Loop 12) runs north and south through the middle, from US-175 up to I-30, and Lake June Road crosses east to west.

Lake June and Buckner stations, the last two on the Green Line, sit inside the neighborhood, with Lawnview and Hatcher to the northwest. Trains reach Deep Ellum and Downtown with no transfer. From a complex within walking distance of a station, a Downtown job doesn't need a car.

Parking? Rarely a problem at the garden complexes, where most units come with a space. How utilities are billed changes your monthly cost far more.

Older garden complexes: what to ask before you sign

Most rentals are in large garden complexes with several buildings, surface lots and bigger floor plans than the same rent buys in most of Dallas. Many complexes have three and four bedroom units, but they don't open up often, and they lease within days.

Utilities are the thing to check. Many complexes put water and gas on a shared meter and charge a flat monthly fee; others meter electricity by unit and bundle the rest. We ask how each building bills and the average charge for your unit size, then compare totals, not rents.

A low credit score doesn't end the search here. Many managers will work with one, usually by asking for a bigger deposit, and each property sets its own terms (they shift with how full it is).

Living in Pleasant Grove

Pleasant Grove is a big, spread out part of southeast Dallas. Days here run on Buckner Boulevard and Lake June Road, with the Great Trinity Forest and a large city park close by.

Commuting from southeast Dallas

Rush hour hits this side of town hard. By our drive times, Downtown is about 15 minutes away with no traffic and 23 at 8am. At that hour, the Medical District is about 36 minutes and Legacy West about 54. US-175, the C.F. Hawn Freeway, is the quick way downtown, and Buckner Boulevard (Loop 12) and I-20 carry trips east and south. For a downtown job, the Green Line skips that 8am slowdown.

What we tell renters here

The drive downtown can take half again as long at 8am as it does off peak, so try the drive at the hour you'd commute. Prairie Creek and the low ground near the Trinity take on water after big storms, so ask whether a building's parking lot has ever flooded.

Pleasant Grove questions

Where are the three and four bedroom apartments in Pleasant Grove?

Mostly in the large garden complexes along Buckner Boulevard and Lake June Road. They open up rarely and go fast, so have pay stubs, ID and bank statements ready before you start.

How do utilities work in Pleasant Grove complexes?

Some share a meter for water and gas and add a flat monthly charge. Others meter each unit. That one detail can swing your monthly total a lot, so we ask how each building bills before we compare.

Can I take the train from Pleasant Grove?

Yes. Lake June and Buckner stations on the Green Line are inside the neighborhood, with a direct ride to Deep Ellum and Downtown. Walk the route from the complex once before you plan on going car free.

Will a credit issue keep me out of Pleasant Grove apartments?

Not always. Complexes on Buckner and Lake June often approve with a larger deposit instead of saying no. Our credit guide covers what to bring. A typical Pleasant Grove one bedroom costs $797 today; the cheapest open one comes to $674 after free rent.

Is there an apartment locator near Pleasant Grove?

Yes. We cover Pleasant Grove, from Buckner Terrace down to Rylie, with the big complexes on Buckner and Lake June in between. We'll watch for three and four bedroom units in your budget and send them as they open.
