Transit, Commutes, and Getting Around
The rental corridor follows Webb Chapel Road, Marsh Lane, Larga Drive and Lombardy Lane, with Bachman Lake on the west side and Love Field on the east. Three Green and Orange line stations serve it: Bachman (by the lake, and closest for most Marsh and Webb Chapel addresses), then Burbank and Inwood/Love Field farther south. All three reach Downtown and the Medical District with no transfer, and the Orange Line continues west to DFW Airport.
Harry Hines Boulevard runs straight to UT Southwestern and Parkland in a few minutes. Stemmons runs along the west edge, Northwest Highway links east to the Tollway and US-75, and the Tollway is the way north to Addison and Plano.
Jet noise is real and changes day to day. Depending on which way planes take off, a building two miles from the runway can be louder than one a mile out, so visit any address twice at different hours.
Older Garden Complexes: What to Ask Before You Sign
Most of the housing is large older garden complexes under big trees, many with little remodeling. That means original finishes and lower rents, and floor plans larger than the same rent buys in Oak Lawn or the Medical District. One bedrooms over 700 square feet aren't unusual.
Utility billing moves the monthly cost here more than anything else. Many buildings run one shared meter or divide the bill among residents instead of giving each unit its own meter. Ask what the rent includes and what the average utility charge was last year for your floor plan before you compare.
For airline crews and other shared leases, we ask how many adults a property allows on one lease before you apply. Some cap it at two and some allow three or four, and the listing rarely says.
Living between Bachman Lake and the runways
This part of Dallas wraps around Love Field and Bachman Lake. A lake trail, two DART stations and a short ride to the gate make up for plane noise and busy Northwest Highway.

Bachman and Burbank stations sit on the DART Green and Orange lines, and the Orange Line keeps going west to DFW Airport. For Love Field, the free Love Link bus runs between the terminal and Inwood/Love Field Station, one stop south of Burbank. Our 8am drive times run about 12 minutes to the Medical District, 20 to Downtown Dallas, 23 to DFW Airport and 31 to Legacy West.

Bachman Lake Park's paved loop runs about 3 miles around the water, with planes coming in to Love Field close overhead. The park has a skate park too. Grauwyler Park is about a mile out for more open space. The K.B. Polk Sprayground cools things off in summer, and Frasier Dam Recreation Area gives a way down to the Elm Fork of the Trinity River.
