Areas we cover inside Argyle
Old Town ArgyleThe small historic center sits near US-377 and the old rail line, with town hall and a few older houses and shops around it.
There are almost no apartments, so rentals are houses that come up one at a time.
LantanaLantana is the large planned community off FM 407 between Argyle and Flower Mound, with golf, pools and miles of trails.
Its leases are mostly houses under homeowners association rules, and FM 407 reaches I-35W one way and I-35E the other.
US-377 CorridorUS-377 is Argyle's main road north and south, running from Denton down toward Roanoke and Fort Worth.
Houses on larger lots and a handful of older rentals sit along it, with traffic heavier at commute hours.
I-35W FrontageAlong I-35W on Argyle's west edge, the land runs to new shopping strips, open land and access roads.
It's the fastest way to Denton or Alliance, and truck noise from the interstate carries a fair distance.
Denton County AcreageOutside the town core, Argyle and the county land around it is horse property and homes on an acre or more.
A rental out here usually means a house with land, well or septic in some spots, and a drive for every errand.

US-377, FM 407 and the stoplights
US-377 runs through town, with Denton about eight miles north and Flower Mound to the south, and FM 407 heads west to I-35W through Northlake for Fort Worth and Alliance. No rail or bus line serves Argyle, so plan on driving.
Stoplights on US-377 make the drive to Denton slower than the miles suggest. Dallas is a long drive by any route. How close you sit to an I-35W ramp comes down to which side of town you pick.
Houses, acreage and Lantana
Looking for an apartment complex? Argyle has almost none. Lots run large, so rentals are houses, many on acreage. Lantana, on the line between Argyle and Bartonville, adds newer houses and some homes built to rent, with shared amenities.
Outside Lantana, owners lease their own homes and look at each application one at a time, often with no written rules. Acreage leases can include barn or pasture use, which brings liability and upkeep questions a normal lease skips. Back in Lantana, some addresses add HOA rules on parking, pets and lawns.
Some homes run on well and septic. Get the water testing and septic pumping terms in writing, including who pays, before you move in.
Small town days in Argyle
Argyle is a Denton County town of big lots and country roads, where dinner, groceries and a night out each mean a short drive. Barbecue and a few cafes are the local draws.

Argyle's restaurants sit along US-377 and FM 407, a few at a time in small centers, not on one strip. Barbecue, Tex-Mex, pizza and a couple of breakfast cafes cover most nights. 407 BBQ, named for FM 407, is the best known stop around town.

Groceries just outside town
Argyle has no big grocery store in the middle of town, so plan a drive for groceries. The closest Tom Thumb is about three miles from the town center, and Denton's big stores and shopping centers are a quick trip north on US-377 or I-35W.

What we tell renters looking at Argyle
Plan on a car for everything: there's no train or regular bus line in town. By our 8am count, it's about 39 minutes to Legacy West, 41 to the airport, 48 to the Medical District and 53 to Downtown Dallas. Those times barely change from the no traffic numbers, so the drive is long but steady. Try the route once at your real work hour before you sign.

Is there anything but houses for rent in Argyle?
Barely. Nearly every rental is a house, many on acreage, plus newer homes built to rent near Lantana. For an apartment with standard screening, Denton and Lewisville are the places to look. At the nearest complexes, a one bedroom runs about $1,359 at the moment.
Is my Argyle address in Argyle ISD?
Most of the town is, and some parts fall in neighboring districts such as Northwest ISD. Check the street address on the district's boundary map.
Can I keep a horse at an Argyle rental?
At some acreage rentals with barn or pasture use. Pin down who's liable, who maintains what, and what counts as normal wear on barns and fences before you sign.
Will my Argyle rental be on a well?
