Roanoke Apartment Locator: Oak Street, SH-114 and the Alliance Corridor
As your Roanoke apartment locator, we checked 5 places this week, with prices from $1,299 a month after free rent. Roanoke sits where SH-114 meets US-377 in Denton County, a short drive from the Alliance warehouse and corporate corridor and a straight shot east to DFW Airport. Why our prices are lower than what the community quotes
When a community gives free rent, we spread it over the whole lease and show what you pay a month on average. The community quotes the full rent, and many take the free rent off your first months. You pay the same total either way. Our way lets you compare one deal with another. Fees and the deposit are extra.

Areas we cover inside Roanoke
Oak StreetOak Street is Roanoke's old main street, packed with restaurants in restored storefronts and newer buildings.
That's why the town calls itself the Unique Dining Capital of Texas. Small apartment and townhome buildings sit within walking distance.
Byron Nelson BoulevardByron Nelson Boulevard, named for the golfer who lived in Roanoke, runs through the center of town between SH-114 and US-377.
Newer retail, offices and some apartment buildings sit along it.
Cleveland-Gibbs CorridorCleveland-Gibbs Road runs north from SH-114 into Northlake, past newer subdivisions and open land that's being developed.
It's one of the main routes up toward FM-407 and I-35W.
SH-114 CorridorSH-114 runs through Roanoke east toward Trophy Club, Southlake and DFW Airport and west to I-35W.
Big chain stores and restaurants line its frontage, and the airport is about 20 minutes east.
US-377 CorridorUS-377 runs north and south through Roanoke, south to Keller and north to Argyle and Denton.
Older homes and businesses line it near downtown, with newer subdivisions farther out.
Downtown RoanokeDowntown Roanoke is centered on Oak Street, near the rail line and the US-377 junction with Byron Nelson Boulevard.
City hall and the library are here, and you can walk to dinner from several nearby townhome and apartment buildings.

Roanoke Apartments Close to Alliance and Oak Street
- Race weekends at Texas Motor Speedway weighed against your commute on SH-114 and I-35W
- Co-op electric pointed out on the addresses you like before you budget
- HOA rules on townhomes and rent houses, asked for so you can read them before you sign
SH-114, US-377, I-35W and race weekends
SH-114 runs east to Southlake, Grapevine and DFW Airport. Through the middle of town, US-377 heads south toward Fort Worth. I-35W, a few minutes west, carries traffic between Fort Worth and Denton. The Alliance corridor's warehouse, factory and office jobs lie just west, a short drive from most addresses.
Texas Motor Speedway is close enough to matter: on race weekends SH-114 and I-35W back up hard, so a building whose entrance is on SH-114 feels it most. Roanoke has no train or useful transit, so a car comes with the lease. If Roanoke is short on openings, Flower Mound and Lewisville lie east.
Newer communities, townhomes and the power question
The newer garden communities along SH-114 and US-377 screen by posted rules and charge the full set of amenity fees. The ones still filling up lead with free rent, usually with a clawback in the addendum, which our specials guide explains. With solid income and a messy record, a guarantor company or a bigger deposit usually works there.
Townhomes and rent houses make up a big share of Roanoke rentals. Renting in an HOA? The parking, pet and lawn rules apply to you no matter what the owner says.
Most of Roanoke is on Oncor, where you can shop for a plan, but some addresses nearby are on a co-op. We look up which company serves each address before you budget.

Roads in and out of Roanoke
SH-114 runs along the town's south side toward DFW Airport and Southlake, and SH-170 heads west toward I-35W. At 8am the trip takes about 28 minutes to DFW Airport, 40 to the Medical District, 40 to Legacy West and 44 to Downtown Dallas. Roanoke has no rail service, so a car is the way around.

Small parks close to Oak Street
Cannon Parkway Park and Roanoke Community Park both sit within half a mile of the middle of town, handy for a dog walk or a game of catch between meals. They're small, so for long hikes, plan a drive to the trails along Grapevine Lake a few miles east.

Hard Eight BBQ, a short walk away, cooks over an open pit. Bayou Jack's does Cajun food and Los Molcajetes does Mexican. Anamia's Tex Mex sits a couple of miles out.

What we tell renters about Roanoke
Weekend dinner hours bring heavy traffic and tight parking to Oak Street, so walk if you live close. The water park adds summer traffic near the middle of town. DFW Airport is under half an hour away at 8am, which is a big plus if you fly for work.
Roanoke questions
Does Roanoke have co-op electric?
Some addresses may. Most of Roanoke is on Oncor, where you can shop for a plan. Homes on a co-op buy power from the co-op, so there's no plan to shop. We look up which utility serves the unit.
How bad is Texas Motor Speedway race weekend traffic?
Heavy on SH-114 and I-35W. Check the race calendar against your commute, and favor an entrance off a side street over one on SH-114.
What is on Oak Street?
A lot of restaurants for a few blocks. Roanoke calls itself the Unique Dining Capital of Texas. From homes near downtown you can walk to dinner (the best everyday perk of renting here). As for rent, a typical Roanoke one bedroom runs about $1,550 this week.
Is Roanoke a quick drive to DFW Airport?
It's a straight run east on SH-114. If you fly often, time it from the address at your usual hour.
Do Roanoke's SH-114 specials have strings?
Often a clawback, which bills you for the free weeks if you leave early. We ask for those terms in the addendum before you sign.
Is Roanoke in Northwest ISD?
Mostly, yes. We look up the exact address on Northwest ISD's boundary map rather than trusting the ZIP code.
Is there an apartment locator near Roanoke?
Yes. Around Roanoke, we ask the SH-114 buildings still filling up what they're offering, and we look up HOA rules for the townhomes and rent houses and the power company for each address. When Roanoke is full, we'll add Flower Mound or Lewisville.
Near Roanoke
Flower Mound and Lewisville sit east toward the lake, and Denton is a straight drive north up I-35W.
