Highland Village Apartment Locator: Houses From Owners by Lewisville Lake

Free help from your Highland Village apartment locator: we checked 8 places this week, from $1,215 a month after free rent. Highland Village is a small Denton County city on Lewisville Lake between Lewisville and Flower Mound, built mostly as houses, so apartment complexes are few. Most of what rents comes from individual owners: houses and townhomes, some near the lake. Highland Village/Lewisville Lake station, just east at I-35E, puts the A-train close, and FM-407 and FM-2499 carry the drives. Power comes from Oncor on some streets and a co-op on others.

Highland Village Apartment Locator Help for Homes Leased by Owners

  • Houses and townhomes from owners, kept track of as they come up, since they're most of what rents here
  • Lewisville or Flower Mound added right away if you need an apartment complex
  • Oncor or co-op power to check for the address before you count on shopping for a plan

Roads and the A-train

FM-407 runs east and west into Lewisville and toward Flower Mound, and FM-2499 runs north and south through Flower Mound to SH-121. You'll drive for nearly everything, DFW Airport included (it's south down FM-2499).

The A-train's Highland Village/Lewisville Lake station puts a train within reach: south through Old Town Lewisville to Trinity Mills, where the DART Green Line continues to Downtown Dallas. Trains are spaced well apart, so it works best from a home close to the station.

Renting From Owners, Plus Power and School Lines

The city built few apartments for its size, so a normal apartment search here comes up small next to Lewisville. Almost everything for rent is a house or townhome from an individual owner, and some carry HOA rules on parking, pets and lawns.

Owners decide credit and rental history case by case. Strong income and a messy file? That can work here. Nothing is written down, though, so results vary. Electric service varies by street, and Lewisville ISD serves the city, though a boundary can split a subdivision.

Lake days and errands in Highland Village

A-train, FM 407 and the City Trail

Highland Village/Lewisville Lake Station on the A-train sits about a mile east of the middle of town. The City Trail is a 3.8 mile concrete path between Fairfield Lane and Sellmeyer Lane, with parking at Unity Park and Doubletree Ranch Park. A walk across town can skip FM 407.

A trail from the park joins the A-train Rail Trail and its bridge over the lake. If you plan to ride the A-train, time the trip from the door to the station and back at commute hours, since trains don't come often. A home near the City Trail lets you walk to Unity Park or Doubletree Ranch Park instead of fighting for parking. On festival days at Doubletree Ranch Park, like Celebrate Highland Village in June, go early or walk in.

Highland Village questions

Can I rent an apartment in Highland Village?

Only a few regular ones. Owners rent out nearly everything else. Lewisville to the east has far more apartments, and Flower Mound to the south has a few more.

Can I ride the A-train from Highland Village?

Yes, from Highland Village/Lewisville Lake station, south to Carrollton and the DART Green Line. Trains don't come often, so it suits homes close to the station.

Is Highland Village on Oncor?

Parts of it. A recent utility bill for the house will show whether it's Oncor, with plans to compare, or the co-op.

Where do Highland Village renters look for more apartments?

Lewisville has the most apartments in the area, low credit options and the Old Town A-train stop. Flower Mound has buildings on Long Prairie, Cross Timbers and near Lakeside DFW. In Lewisville, one bedrooms run about $1,253 in our latest numbers.

Is Highland Village in Lewisville ISD?

Yes, but confirm the street address, since a boundary can split a subdivision.

Will Highland Village owners rent with bad credit?

Some will, case by case, when income is strong. Nothing is written down, so for written rules and approvals with conditions, Lewisville's apartment communities are a better bet.

What parks and water access are in Highland Village?

Pilot Knoll Park and Copperas Branch Park sit on Lewisville Lake with boat ramps, and Doubletree Ranch Park and Unity Park are the other big parks.

Is there an apartment locator near Highland Village?

Yes. Here we mostly track houses and townhomes from owners near the lake. Check each one's power company and HOA rules before you sign. We add Lewisville and Flower Mound apartments when Highland Village is short.
