How do you know if an apartment special is a good deal?
Spread the free rent over the whole lease to get the real monthly price, then compare it with what similar places nearby cost this week. This checker does both with our weekly numbers.
What is net effective rent?
It's the listed rent with the free rent spread over the lease. Six weeks free on a $1,500, 12 month lease works out to about $1,327 a month. Fees and the deposit are extra.
Where do your market numbers come from?
From our check every Monday: the rent for every open floor plan, counting free rent when the offer is a set amount. Income restricted, 55+ and student housing are left out.
Is weeks free the same as months free?
No. A week is 7 days and a month averages about 30.4, so 6 weeks free is 42 days, a little less than a month and a half.
