Vickery Meadow Dallas Apartment Locator: Older Gardens Between Two Rail Stops
As your Vickery Meadow Dallas apartment locator, we checked 20 places this week, with prices from $749 a month after free rent. Vickery Meadow packs a lot of garden complexes into a small grid, most of them two and three story buildings with outdoor stairs from the 1970s and early 1980s. Park Lane and Walnut Hill stations sit on its west edge, with NorthPark just across Central. Many properties here work with credit issues, and how a building bills utilities can move your monthly cost more than the rent does.

Why our prices are lower than what the community quotes
When a community gives free rent, we spread it over the whole lease and show what you pay a month on average. The community quotes the full rent, and many take the free rent off your first months. You pay the same total either way. Our way lets you compare one deal with another. Fees and the deposit are extra.

Areas we cover inside Vickery Meadow
Park LanePark Lane station on the Red and Orange lines anchors the southwest corner of Vickery Meadow, just east of US-75 and across from NorthPark Center.
Newer midsize apartment buildings sit by the station, and the blocks east are packed with 1970s and 1980s garden complexes.
Abrams RoadAbrams Road marks Vickery Meadow's east side in most definitions, running north from Northwest Highway toward Lake Highlands.
Older garden apartments line it, with Lake Highlands houses just beyond.
Greenville AvenueGreenville Avenue runs north and south through the west part of Vickery Meadow, from Northwest Highway past Park Lane and Walnut Hill.
Apartment complexes from the 1970s and 1980s, shopping centers and restaurants line it.
Skillman StreetSkillman Street cuts northeast through the east side of Vickery Meadow toward Lake Highlands, with dense garden complexes on both sides.
Buses run its length, and Park Lane station is a short ride west.
Walnut Hill LaneWalnut Hill Lane forms the north edge of Vickery Meadow by the city's map, with Walnut Hill station by Central Expressway.
Older complexes line much of it between Greenville and Abrams.

Vickery Meadow Apartments Between Two Rail Stations
- Utility billing at each complex: your own meter, a split of the building's bill, or a flat monthly fee
- Night parking in the open lots, where an evening space isn't guaranteed
- Complexes that have taken a larger deposit instead of turning down a shaky credit file
- The walk to Park Lane or Walnut Hill station from the exact building
Transit and Commutes from Park Lane Station
Park Lane station sits at the neighborhood's west edge and Walnut Hill station just north of it, both on the Red and Orange lines with a straight ride to Downtown. For a renter without a car, few parts of Dallas inside Loop 12 have this much rail at this price.
Central Expressway runs along the west side with NorthPark Center across it, The Shops at Park Lane border the corridor, and Medical City Dallas is a short drive north. Greenville Avenue, Park Lane and Walnut Hill Lane carry most trips out.
Inside, the streets form a walkable grid between large complexes. Most interior lots have no assigned spaces and fill up in the evening. The walk to a station changes a lot by address, and Walnut Hill is usually closer for the northern blocks.
1970s Garden Complexes and Utility Billing
Most of what's here is an older garden complex: big properties with open lots, old trees and outdoor stairs, two or three floors with no elevator. Ground floor units come open less often than upper ones. Newer buildings sit along the Park Lane and Central edges.
How utilities are billed changes your monthly cost the most. Some properties put each unit on its own electric meter. Others split the building's bill among all units, and many add a flat charge for water, trash and pest control. We ask which setup a building uses and the average for your floor plan. Why? A split bill can make a cheaper rent cost more.
Screening here often bends. A bigger deposit can take the place of a no, and some managers will look at an old balance with a payment plan. Each property decides, though, and its policy can shift with how full it is.
Getting to know Vickery Meadow
Vickery Meadow sits between NorthPark Center and White Rock Creek. Two train stations, a paved creek trail and one of the city's best known malls are all close, so a car is optional.

- The creek trail and Fair Oaks Park
- Food along Greenville Avenue

Driving in and out of Vickery Meadow
Most trips out start on Greenville Avenue, Park Lane or Walnut Hill Lane. At 8am, it's about 20 minutes to Downtown or the Medical District by our count, about 30 to Legacy West and about 35 to DFW Airport. Central Expressway is the fast way south. NorthPark sits on the far side of it, so holiday weekends in December put heavy traffic on Park Lane and Northwest Highway.

Park Lane station
Use it for the Red or Orange line Downtown, or walk to NorthPark and The Shops at Park Lane without moving your car.
- Train to Downtown
- Mall trips
The creek trail and Fair Oaks Park
Fair Oaks Park, on the neighborhood's east side, has ball fields, picnic tables, grills, a pavilion and a playground, with parking along Fair Oaks Avenue. Dogs stay on a leash. The paved White Rock Creek Trail runs past it and the Fair Oaks Tennis Center, which has restrooms and a small store. Take the trail south and it reaches White Rock Lake; take it north for Valley View Park.
Fair Oaks Park
Park by the tennis center, then walk or ride the creek trail; weekday evenings are calmer than Saturday mornings on the fields.
- Evening walks
- Weekend games
- Grill picnics
White Rock Creek Trail
Ride south to White Rock Lake on a weekend morning; it's paved the whole way and passes under the busy streets.
- Bike rides
- Long runs
Food along Greenville Avenue
Greenville Avenue north of Mockingbird, the stretch people call Upper Greenville, runs right through the west side of the neighborhood. It's a long line of restaurants and bars in older strip centers, more spread out and quieter than Lower Greenville. The Shops at Park Lane and NorthPark Center add sit down restaurants with big parking lots, an easy pick when guests visit.
Upper Greenville Avenue
Weeknights bring easy tables at the strip center restaurants, with simpler parking than Lower Greenville.
- Weeknight dinners
- Takeout runs
Shopping and the weekly run
NorthPark Center sits just across US-75. It's a full mall with sculptures from the Nasher collection placed through its halls. The Shops at Park Lane, on the neighborhood's west edge, has big box stores and a Whole Foods. Both are a walk from Park Lane station, so you can shop without driving.

NorthPark Center
Go on a weekday morning to shop without crowds, and look for the sculptures along the halls.
- Big shopping trips
- Holiday shopping
- Art walks
The Shops at Park Lane
The closest stop for a weekly grocery run and big box errands, right by the train station.
- Weekly groceries
- Saturday errands
What we tell renters here
NorthPark's holiday season, from mid November through December, means slow traffic on Park Lane and Northwest Highway, so visit on a weekday evening then. Creek trail underpasses can flood after heavy storms, so check before an early run. If you'll ride the train, ask which station the building is closer to; Walnut Hill station is the better pick for the north blocks.
Vickery Meadow questions
How do Vickery Meadow complexes bill utilities?
Three ways: a meter for each unit, a share of the whole building's bill, or a flat monthly charge for water, trash and pest control. We ask which one and the average for your floor plan before you compare rents.
Is parking assigned in Vickery Meadow?
At most interior complexes, no. Lots are open, and spaces get hard to find after dinner. We ask how it really works on a weeknight.
Is Vickery Meadow a good place for a credit issue?
Often, yes. Many complexes ask for a larger deposit rather than saying no, and some will look at an old balance with a payment plan. Our low credit guide covers what to bring. Near the Park Lane station, a typical one bedroom goes for $1,248, and the cheapest open one comes to $774 after its free weeks.
Can I take the train from Vickery Meadow?
Yes. Park Lane and Walnut Hill stations are on the Red and Orange lines with a direct ride Downtown. Check the walk from the building you like.
Is there an apartment locator near Vickery Meadow?
Yes. We cover Vickery Meadow block by block, from the complexes on Skillman and Abrams to the newer buildings by Park Lane station. We'll ask how each one bills utilities and tell you before you apply.
