The Cedars Dallas Apartment Locator: Market Lofts and Cedars Warehouses
Free help from your Cedars Dallas apartment locator: we checked 16 places this week, from $999 a month after free rent. The Farmers Market blocks and the Cedars sit on Downtown's south edge, split by I-30, with newer midrises around the market shed and warehouse lofts across the freeway. Cedars station puts Downtown a short train ride away. Some buildings here include a space in a surface lot. That can bring the monthly total under a Downtown tower's even when the rent looks close.

Why our prices are lower than what the community quotes
When a community gives free rent, we spread it over the whole lease and show what you pay a month on average. The community quotes the full rent, and many take the free rent off your first months. You pay the same total either way. Our way lets you compare one deal with another. Fees and the deposit are extra.

Areas we cover inside Farmers Market & The Cedars
Farmers Market DistrictThe Dallas Farmers Market sits on the southeast edge of downtown around Harwood and Marilla streets, with midsize apartment buildings around its covered shed.
Downtown offices are a walk away, and I-30 and I-45 meet just south.
Botham Jean BoulevardBotham Jean Boulevard, the old South Lamar Street, runs from Downtown under I-30 and through the Cedars past Dallas Police headquarters.
Big warehouses turned into lofts line it, with Cedars station a short walk east.
The CedarsSouth of I-30 and west of I-45, the Cedars is an old warehouse neighborhood where lofts and midsize apartment buildings mix with industrial buildings.
Cedars station serves the Red and Blue lines, and Dallas Heritage Village in Old City Park sits on the east side.
Ervay StreetErvay Street runs south from the downtown core past Dallas City Hall, then across I-30 into the Cedars.
Older brick buildings and a few apartment conversions line it, and the Farmers Market is a few blocks east.
Young StreetAlong downtown's south end, Young Street passes Dallas City Hall, Pioneer Plaza and the convention center before heading east toward the Farmers Market.
Towers and newer buildings sit within a few blocks, and Convention Center station on the Red and Blue lines is nearby.
Belleview StreetBelleview Street cuts east to west through the middle of the Cedars, near the station.
Warehouses, event halls and newer apartment buildings share the blocks, so expect some late noise near the bigger venues.

Cedars and Farmers Market Apartments Where Parking Can Be Included
- Parking to compare building by building, since a space included in a surface lot beats a monthly garage charge
- Warehouse lofts to ask about: deep units, very tall ceilings and any bedroom without a window
- Homes near the rail lines and the big event halls on Botham Jean Boulevard, where late night noise carries
- Condos leased by their owners, which handle applications differently from a building with a leasing office
Getting around Farmers Market and The Cedars
The market pocket sits south of the Main Street District and west of Deep Ellum, above I-30. The Cedars picks up below the freeway along Botham Jean Boulevard and Ervay Street and runs down toward Corinth Street.
Cedars station on the Red and Blue lines is the main stop, and Convention Center station sits just north on the Downtown edge. I-30, I-45 and I-35E all meet within about two miles, so the freeways are close. TxDOT is rebuilding I-30 here through about 2031, so cross streets by the freeway can narrow or close.
Parking is the big difference from Downtown. Surface lots are more common here, and some buildings include a space with the unit. Ask how each building handles it before you compare totals.
Three kinds of buildings and what to check in each
The newest buildings cluster around the market: midrises with standard screening, where a guarantor company or a bigger deposit can sometimes cover thin credit. South of the freeway the Cedars has older buildings with lighter renovations, and condition varies more from one to the next. Independent owners there tend to have more room to bend on screening than the Downtown towers, and the rules can change when a building gets a new owner.
Then there are the warehouse lofts: big open units, very tall ceilings and, now and then, a bedroom with no window. Get the floor plan on paper, ask whether the AC can keep up with the tall ceilings in August, and book the loading dock before your move.
Some older buildings here split the water bill among all units instead of giving each its own meter. It's easy to miss, so ask, and add it to the rent.
Daily life south of Downtown
Farmers Market and the Cedars sit on Downtown's south edge, split by I-30. Days here mix a covered market, a newer park, big event halls and freeway work that will run for years.
- Getting out of the south end of Downtown
- Green space on the south side
- Food and shows close to home
- Big events next door
- What we tell renters here
Getting out of the south end of Downtown
At 8am, it's about 7 minutes into Downtown by our count, 20 to the Medical District, 35 to DFW Airport and about 40 to Legacy West. I-30, I-45 and I-35E all meet within a mile, so getting on a freeway is quick. Cross streets near I-30 are narrowed or closed for the freeway rebuild. On foot, Harwood Street is the most direct walk from the market north into the Downtown core.
Cedars station
Ride the Red or Blue line one stop into Downtown for work or a game, and skip the garage fees.
- Train to Downtown
- Game nights
Green space on the south side
Harwood Park, built on old parking lots and empty buildings, ties the Farmers Market district to the East Quarter and the Downtown core. It's the main lawn on this side of town. Across I-30, Dallas Heritage Village fills Old City Park with old houses and shade trees, a calm spot for a walk away from traffic.

Dallas Heritage Village
Walk the grounds of Old City Park on a quiet afternoon to see 1800s houses and shops among big trees.
- Quiet walks

Harwood Park
The closest lawn to the market blocks; bring a dog or a lunch on a weekday, and check for events on weekends.
- Dog walks
- Lunch outside
Food and shows close to home
The market's food hall and the shed vendors cover lunch most days. In the Cedars, Gilley's Dallas on South Lamar, now signed as Botham Jean Boulevard, is a complex of event halls for concerts, weddings and big parties. Deep Ellum is a short drive or bike ride northeast for late dinners and music.

Dallas Farmers Market
Grab lunch in the food hall on a weekday, and come back on weekend mornings when local growers fill the shed.
- Weekday lunch
- Weekend produce
Gilley's Dallas
A big event hall complex on South Lamar for country shows and large parties; check the calendar, since nights there run late.
- Country shows
- Big parties
Big events next door
The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center sits at the north edge of the Cedars, and Gilley's is a short way south of it. Pioneer Plaza, with its bronze cattle drive, is beside the convention center and makes an easy stop when friends visit. Convention weeks bring crowds, food trucks and full lots to the blocks around Young Street.

Pioneer Plaza
Walk over with visiting friends for the bronze cattle drive and a photo with the skyline behind it; mornings are quietest.
- Visiting guests
- Morning walks

Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center
Check its calendar before you plan a move or a weekend drive, since big shows fill the lots around it.
- Trade shows
- Big expos
What we tell renters here
Look up the convention center calendar before you schedule a move, since big shows fill nearby lots and garages for days. Events at Gilley's let out late on weekends, so units on South Lamar near it hear crowds and car traffic after midnight. Weekend mornings at the market bring shoppers and slow parking on Harwood, so run errands early.
Farmers Market & The Cedars questions
Is parking included at Farmers Market and Cedars apartments?
Sometimes. Some buildings include a space in a surface lot, and that's worth real money: many Downtown towers charge for the garage on top. Check each building and count it in our true monthly cost calculator. Rent itself runs about $1,425 for a Cedars or Farmers Market one bedroom right now, and the lowest open one is $1,169 after free rent.
How close is the train?
Cedars station on the Red and Blue lines is inside the neighborhood, and Convention Center station sits just north on the Downtown edge. From either, the rest of Downtown is a short ride.
Is there noise from trains or events in the Cedars?
Freight and DART lines cross the neighborhood, and the horns carry at night. Crowds leave the big halls on Botham Jean Boulevard late on weekends. If a building sits near either, go back after dark before you sign.
Are there condos for rent here?
Some. Owners lease units in a few condo buildings, and they handle applications differently from a building with a leasing office. Ask which kind it is before you apply.
Is there an apartment locator near the Farmers Market and the Cedars?
Yes. We keep up with the newer places around the market shed and the lofts and older buildings south of I-30. We send the ones that fit your budget. Ask each one about parking, and drive by after dark if it sits near the tracks.
