- **Bachman Lake**: Bachman Lake sits just north of Love Field, with a trail loop of three miles around the water. The Bachman DART station serves the Green and Orange lines, and older garden apartments surround the lake.
- **Webb Chapel Road**: Webb Chapel runs north from the Bachman area through Northwest Dallas. Garden apartments from the 1970s and 80s and small strip centers line it.
- **Marsh Lane Corridor**: Marsh Lane runs north through Northwest Dallas toward Farmers Branch and Carrollton. Older garden complexes make up most of the apartments on it, and I-635 crosses at the north end.
- **Lombardy Lane**: Lombardy runs east to west north of Bachman Lake, between Harry Hines and Webb Chapel. Older complexes and small industrial lots share the street.
- **Larga Drive**: A short street just west of Bachman Lake lined with several older garden apartment complexes. Love Field is about a mile south, so expect some jet noise.
- **Love Field District**: The area around Dallas Love Field, between Mockingbird, Lemmon and Denton Drive. It's a short trip to work at the airport, and the free Love Link shuttle connects the terminal to the Inwood/Love Field DART station.

## Transit, Commutes, and Getting Around
The rental corridor follows Webb Chapel Road, Marsh Lane, Larga Drive and Lombardy Lane, with Bachman Lake on the west side and Love Field on the east. Three Green and Orange line stations serve it: Bachman (by the lake, and closest for most Marsh and Webb Chapel addresses), then Burbank and Inwood/Love Field farther south. All three reach Downtown and the Medical District with no transfer, and the Orange Line continues west to DFW Airport.
Harry Hines Boulevard runs straight to UT Southwestern and Parkland in a few minutes. Stemmons runs along the west edge, Northwest Highway links east to the Tollway and US-75, and the Tollway is the way north to Addison and Plano.
Jet noise is real and changes day to day. Depending on which way planes take off, a building two miles from the runway can be louder than one a mile out, so visit any address twice at different hours.
## Older Garden Complexes: What to Ask Before You Sign
Most of the housing is large older garden complexes under big trees, many with little remodeling. That means original finishes and lower rents, and floor plans larger than the same rent buys in Oak Lawn or the Medical District. One bedrooms over 700 square feet aren't unusual.
Utility billing moves the monthly cost here more than anything else. Many buildings run one shared meter or divide the bill among residents instead of giving each unit its own meter. Ask what the rent includes and what the average utility charge was last year for your floor plan before you compare.
For airline crews and other shared leases, we ask how many adults a property allows on one lease before you apply. Some cap it at two and some allow three or four, and the listing rarely says.
## Living between Bachman Lake and the runways
This part of Dallas wraps around Love Field and Bachman Lake. A lake trail, two DART stations and a short ride to the gate make up for plane noise and busy Northwest Highway.
### Two rail stops and the airport bus
Bachman and Burbank stations sit on the DART Green and Orange lines, and the Orange Line keeps going west to DFW Airport. For Love Field, the free Love Link bus runs between the terminal and Inwood/Love Field Station, one stop south of Burbank. Our 8am drive times run about 12 minutes to the Medical District, 20 to Downtown Dallas, 23 to DFW Airport and 31 to Legacy West.
- **Bachman Station** (rail station): Board the Green or Orange line here by the lake for downtown, or take the Orange Line to DFW Airport.
- **Inwood/Love Field Station** (rail station): Change here to the free Love Link bus for the Love Field terminal, one stop south of Burbank.
### The lake loop and the river
Bachman Lake Park's paved loop runs about 3 miles around the water, with planes coming in to Love Field close overhead. The park has a skate park too. Grauwyler Park is about a mile out for more open space. The K.B. Polk Sprayground cools things off in summer, and Frasier Dam Recreation Area gives a way down to the Elm Fork of the Trinity River.
- **Bachman Lake Park** (lake park): Run or bike the loop early on a weekend, and watch the planes drop into Love Field as you go.
- **K.B. Polk Sprayground** (splash pad): Cool off on a hot summer afternoon at this free spray park close to Bachman Lake.
- **Frasier Dam Recreation Area** (river park): Head down for a quiet walk by the Elm Fork of the Trinity on a cool morning.
### Tacos, steaks and old favorites
Harry Hines Boulevard, Webb Chapel Road and the streets around Bachman Lake are lined with taquerias and Latin American kitchens. La Salsa Verde Taquería, Tipico's and El Tacaso are a few. Dunston's Steakhouse is the local spot for a steak, and Celebration Restaurant serves comfort food plates a short drive south. Strokers Ice House is a big bar for a cold beer and a game.

The Frontiers of Flight Museum, on the Love Field grounds, keeps aircraft and space exhibits indoors, a good pick on a hot or rainy day. For a Mavericks or Stars game, ride the Green or Orange line from Bachman or Burbank to Victory Station by American Airlines Center. There's no transfer, so leave the car at home.
